The Centre’s values

Main Content

Tirkandi respects and values the enduring strengths of Aboriginal people, and aims to nurture strong relationships between Aboriginal youth and their Elders by extending courtesy and kindness in every circumstance, acting at all times in the best interests of the Aboriginal community.

We will act with the highest of professionalism, ensuring our integrity will not be compromised in striving for the provision of culturally informed, evidence based, best practice.

We will ensure that our focus is underpinned by the rights of Aboriginal people to make decisions that impact their lives; and by recognising the voices and interests of Aboriginal children, young people, families & carers, and communities.

We will remain committed to our Aboriginal children, families and organisations in everything we do, ensuring their interests are promoted at every opportunity, and that our actions towards achieving this are always clear, honest and transparent.

We provide cultural equity of access across communities in our catchment area, and acknowledge and celebrate the Wiradjuri people as the traditional owners of the land on which we work.

We will perform all interactions non-judgmentally, with respect and to the highest standard, whilst treating personal and business information with confidentiality, trust and non-disclosure.

We place innovation at the forefront of our strategic direction, to seek new ways in delivering programs which are culturally specific in nature and responsive to youth & community need.
